The product supports the recovery of Windows System State by restoring the Registry, Boot files, System files, Active Directory and more. The product offers recovery of Windows System State on all the supported Windows platforms. The entire contents of the Windows System State backup will be restored. Selective restore of individual System State components is not possible. By default, System State will restore to the original location and overwrite existing files.

Restoring a MailStore Archive For CSSB 6.x Enhanced

MailStore archives can be restored to any system using Carbonite Safe Server Backup. MailStore archives cannot be restored to their original location. An alternate location must be specified.

How to Recover System State on an Active Directory Domain Controller For CSSB 6.x Enhanced

The Active Directory database can be restored via System State on a Windows Domain Controller. However, this process requires special procedures which are different from a standard System State restore. A Windows Server running Active Directory Domain Services must be booted into Directory Service Restore Mode (DSRM) in order to restore the System State. DSRM is similar to Windows Safe mode and has no Active Directory services running.

VSS allows backups of in-use, locked, or open files without interrupting whatever process or user is currently accessing those files.
