Backup Overdue for Carbonite Safe

If your backup is not progressing normally, reboot your computer. Rebooting often resolves minor issues and allows Carbonite to connect to our servers. When the computer powers back on, allow all startup processes to complete before attempting to open and check Carbonite. If your backup doesn't resume after rebooting the computer, you can uninstall and reinstall Carbonite to refresh its connection to our servers. Refreshing Your Connection to the Carbonite Servers
If your backup is overdue and not progressing, we suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the Carbonite program on your computer.

Select your version of Carbonite for Mac (you can use these instructions to determine which version you have):

You can uninstall the Carbonite program from within the Carbonite Preference pane. Once the Carbonite Preference pane is open, you can disable Carbonite and you will be able access the uninstall button.
Note: If you are having problems accessing your Carbonite Preference pane, you can manually uninstall Carbonite from your computer by removing the individual files that make up the program.
Click the Apple symbol in the menu bar and select System Preferences.
Within the System Preferences window, click on the Carbonite icon.
Within the Backup Is: drop-down menu of the Carbonite Preference pane, select Disabled.
Note: If you are unable to select Disabled, select Enabled. You will now be able to select Disabled.
When you disable Carbonite, a Security Login Box will be displayed. Type your Apple login information in the spaces provided and click OK.
Carbonite will now be disabled and the Uninstall... button will now be displayed.
Click Uninstall, and you will once again be asked to type your Apple login information. Once you click OK, Carbonite will be uninstalled. You can now reinstall Carbonite.
Carbonite can be uninstalled from within the Carbonite User Interface. Click the Carbonite icon in the menu bar and select Open Carbonite to open the Carbonite User Interface.
Note: If you are having problems accessing your Carbonite User Interface, you can manually uninstall Carbonite from your computer by removing the individual files that make up the program.
Click the Account tab within the Carbonite User Interface to view the Carbonite account settings on your computer.
Within the Account tab under the Computer Information panel, click the Uninstall button to begin uninstalling Carbonite from your computer.
To continue uninstalling Carbonite from your computer, click the Yes button in the pop-up notification. Otherwise, click No to cancel the uninstall.
Carbonite will remove all Carbonite-related files from the computer. After the uninstall completes, you will receive a notification window indication that the uninstall has completed and you can reinstall Carbonite.
Once Carbonite has been removed from the computer, you can then reinstall the program through your account on our website.
Sign into your account at https://account.carbonite.com.
After signing into your Carbonite account, click Reinstall Carbonite in the Computer options drop down menu.
Click the Download Now button to download the Carbonite installer. Run the installer from within your browser or downloads folder and follow the on-screen prompts.
- If you try to run the file and get a message that the installation was blocked, please use this article to allow Carbonite to continue to install.
Your backup should reconnect to our servers and resume functioning normally.
