Carbonite Support > Carbonite Safe Backup for Wind... > Backing up

Carbonite lets you add files to and remove files from your backup at any time during your subscription.
What's backed up?
Carbonite automatically backs up any selected files to the cloud. During the installation process, you can choose to have Carbonite select the most common file types
for you or manually make your own selections.
If you're interested in seeing what you have backed up, you can view Carbonite's status dots.
Backing up files
Backing up files or folders is simple and easy: just find the file, right-click it, and select Carbonite; Back this up. You'll see a status dot appear on the file or folder, indicating the file's backup status.
Removing files from your backup
You may find some files or folders in your Carbonite backup that you don't need backed up. Removing files from your backup is also easy to do. Simply find the files, right-click them, and select Carbonite; Don't back this up.
Deleting files from your computer
If you delete backed up files from your computer, Carbonite removes the deleted files from Carbonite after 30 days.
