Determining Your Software Version

You can determine which version of Carbonite you are running through the Carbonite application or from your Carbonite account.
There are currently two versions of Carbonite for Mac. When Carbonite is installed, a Carbonite icon will appear in your menu bar. This is a quick way to see what version you are running.
- Users are currently not able to upgrade between versions 1.x and 2.x.
- A padlock icon (left) will be displayed in your menu bar if you have Carbonite version 1.x
- A Carbonite green dot icon (right) will be displayed in your menu bar if you have Carbonite version 2.x
The sections below are collapsed. Please click a section title to open / close the appropriate section.
To open the Carbonite Preference pane, click the Apple symbol in the menu bar and select System Preferences to open the System Preferences window.
Within the System Preferences window, click on the Carbonite icon. If this icon doesn't appear, Carbonite is either not installed or you do not have version 1.x.
The Carbonite Preference pane will be displayed. The version will be displayed in top right corner of this window.
To open the Carbonite User Interface, click the Carbonite icon in the menu bar and select Open Carbonite to open the Carbonite User Interface.
The Carbonite User Interface for version 2.x will be displayed. Click the Account tab under the MAIN section on the left.
The Account tab will be displayed within the Carbonite User Interface. Your version will be located within the Account panel next to the Software Version field.
