Known Issue: Carbonite Safe Server Backup Installation Fails with Error 1327
Summary:
When attempting to install Carbonite Safe Server Backup, the installation fails with Error 1327.
Cause
The Windows Operating System is normally installed on the C:\ drive of a computer. Installing Windows on a drive letter other than C:\, or changing the drive letter at a later time can have unintended results. Like many applications, Carbonite Safe Server Backup (CSSB) expects the C:\ drive to exist. Even if you install on a different drive, the CSSB installer tries to access the C:\ drive during installation.

Solution:
It is still possible to install CSSB if you encounter Error 1327. You must create a C:\ drive through any method such as:
- Map a network drive and assign it the drive letter C:\
- Plug in an external hard drive and assign it the drive letter C:\
- Use the Windows Disk Management utility to change the letter of an existing drive to C:\
Use the method that works best in your environment. As long as you end up with a C:\ drive on your system, the CSSB installation can continue. It is safe to revert any of the aforementioned suggested changes once the CSSB installation completes.
