Transferring Your Carbonite Safe Subscription to Start a New Backup (Mac 1x)

You can transfer your Carbonite Safe subscription to another computer to start a new backup.

Solution:

  1. Sign in at https://account.carbonite.com from the computer you want to back up.
  2. Click Backup.
  3. From the backup you want to restore, click Options > Move my subscription.
    From the Options dropdown, click Move my subscription
  4. Click Continue.
    Click Continue
  5. Download the Carbonite setup file by clicking Download.
    Click Download
  6. Depending on your web browser, use the instructions below to open Carbonite.
    • Google Chrome: The downloaded file appears at the bottom left of the browser. Double-click the Carbonite file to open it.
    • Mozilla Firefox: Click Save in the pop-up message that appears to start the download. When the download completes, click the arrow in the top right corner of your browser to view your downloads. Double-click the Carbonite file to open it.
    • Safari: When the download completes, click the arrow in the top right corner of your browser to view your downloads. Double-click the Carbonite file to open it.
  7. When the Install Carbonite window appears, click Continue.
    Click Continue
  8. Enter your Mac password and click Install Software.
  9. Before you close out of the Install Carbonite window, wait for the Welcome to Carbonite window to appear.
  10. After the installation completes, a success message will appear within the Welcome to Carbonite window. Click Close.
    Click Close
  11. From here, configure Full Disk Access to ensure Carbonite can access and backup your files.

You successfully transferred Carbonite to the computer. Carbonite will scan for files and start backing up within a few minutes.
