Backing Up Mac Mail

Summary:

Carbonite can back up your Mail data if you are logged into the app on your Mac. However, the data exists in a hidden Apple folder, so it is not included in Carbonite’s default backup selections.

  • This article is for Mac only

Solution:

To select it for backup, unhide the User Library and restart your computer. You can then find the Mail data within the Carbonite interface in the following location:

  • Macintosh HD/Users/[User Name]/Library/Mail
Mac Mail stores each email as an individual file. If email files exceed the file size limit, you will need to select them individually for backup.

After you find the data, you can select it for backup like any other file.
