Checking Your Backup Progress (Mac 2x)

If you are unsure about your backup status, you can check it from within the Carbonite software.

Solution:

Open the Carbonite User Interface through your Applications or through the Carbonite green dot icon in the menu bar:

Carbonite Mac 2.x Client Icon: Open Carbonite

The Back Up tab will be displayed by default.
Recently backed up files will be displayed here.
Error statuses will be displayed here if there is a problem with the backup.
If the page seems unresponsive to commands, we recommend reinstalling Carbonite.

We recommend leaving your computer on until the initial backup finishes but Carbonite will always resume from where it left off if the backup is interrupted.

If you are not nearing the end of your backup and/or Carbonite appears to be stuck backing up a small file, please use the links below to assist you with troubleshooting a stuck backup.

Definitions

Restore: The act of downloading your backed up files from our servers to your computer.
Back up: The act of uploading a copy of your files to our servers for safekeeping.
Backup: This is the copy of files that you've backed up to our servers.
InfoCenter: This is the Carbonite user interface on the Windows version of the product.
Carbonite Backup Drive (CBUD): this is your interface into what's in your backup and how you can restore files or remove files from your backup.
Dots: We place colored status dots on your files in order for you to quickly see what's backed up.
Frozen for safekeeping (freeze backup / frozen mode) : This is a state that you can place Carbonite in to let you safely restore your backup. While in this state, no files or changes will be backed up to our servers.
