Backing Up Files in Dropbox, OneDrive, and Google Drive with Carbonite

Summary:

Carbonite can back up files from Dropbox, OneDrive, and Google Drive that are synced to the computer.

Solution:

  1. Ensure the respective app is configured to store the files locally and not synced to the cloud
    • The setting will have verbiage concerning saving hard drive space.
    • If the files are stored in the cloud, Carbonite will not be able to back them up.
  2. Open Carbonite.
  3. Within Carbonite, navigate to the folder where the app’s files are synced.
    The default locations are listed below:
Mac Application Data Location
Dropbox Macintosh HD/Users/[User Name]/Dropbox
OneDrive Macintosh HD/Users/[User Name]/OneDrive
Google Drive Macintosh HD/Users/[User Name]/Google Drive
  1. Select the folder for backup.
