Message: "Restore Select is not available for this backup run"
Summary:
When trying to restore any backup set of a type that allows you to select some items for restore rather than forcing you to restore all items, you are unable to select individual items for backup. Instead, the selective restore screen displays a popup with an error: Restore Select is not available for this backup run. To restore something from this backup run, please restore all data.
This article applies to:
| Carbonite Plans | Products | Platforms |
| Power and Ultimate (Not sure?) | Carbonite Safe Server Backup (Not sure?) | Windows |
Cause:
This issue occurs when one or more backup runs selected for restore does not have a proper index file. Without an index file, selective restore of some items is not possible.
This is a rare issue, but you are more likely to see missing indexes on backups taken with old versions of CSSB. Modern versions of CSSB take greater care to ensure every backup has an index.
Solution:
There is no way to perform a selective restore of a backup run without an index. The only solution is to perform a complete restore of all data.
