Split Large Backup Sets Into Multiple, Smaller Backup Sets

Carbonite Safe Server Backup allows you to create as many backup sets as you wish. Instead of just having one very large backup, consider splitting your data up into multiple, smaller backup sets. Benefits to this approach include:

  • Smaller backups take less time to complete.
  • Smaller backups can be scheduled after hours without causing an interruption in office productivity.
  • Smaller backups can be scheduled to run at times when disk activity is at a minimum.
  • Backups of critical data can be run more frequently than backups of less important data.
Schedule Backups When Disk Activity is at a Minimum

If the source and/or destination drives are being accessed by other programs, it can cause performance issues during backups. The heavier the load, the slower the backup will be. To help alleviate this problem, schedule your backups to run at times when disk activity will be at a minimum.
