Determining Your Version of Carbonite Safe Server Backup

You can determine which version of Carbonite Safe Server Backup you are running through the User Interface (UI).

The CSSB User Interface displays information about your account, including your software version.

Double-click the Carbonite Safe Server Backup shortcut icon on your Desktop.

The screenshot on the left is for CSSB version 6.x and above (Enhanced Interface). The screenshot on the right is for CSSB version 5.x and below (Classic Interface). Click the image below to enlarge.

Finding the Version and Build Number on CSSB 6.x and above

Launch Carbonite Safe Server Backup to access the Enhanced Interface.
Click the Advanced link in the upper right hand corner.

Within the About section, click About Carbonite Safe Server Backup.

A window will appear displaying the version and build number of your software.

Finding the Version and Build Number on CSSB 5.x and below

Launch Carbonite Safe Server Backup to access the Classic Interface.
Click the Help menu and select About Carbonite Safe Server Backup.

A window will appear displaying the version and build number of your software.

Definitions

Restore: The act of downloading your backed up files from our servers to your computer.
Back up: The act of uploading a copy of your files to our servers for safekeeping.
Backup: This is the copy of files that you've backed up to our servers.
InfoCenter: This is the Carbonite user interface on the Windows version of the product.
Carbonite Backup Drive (CBUD): this is your interface into what's in your backup and how you can restore files or remove files from your backup.
Dots: We place colored status dots on your files in order for you to quickly see what's backed up.
Frozen for safekeeping (freeze backup / frozen mode) : This is a state that you can place Carbonite in to let you safely restore your backup. While in this state, no files or changes will be backed up to our servers.
