Shutting Down Your Computer During Backup

It is safe to shut down your computer before your backupA set of copies of your files on our servers. is complete. The next time you turn your computer on, your backup will resume from where it left off. For example, if Carbonite is in the middle of backing up a music file and you turn off your computer, the backup will be resumed at that music file.

During your initial backup, we suggest keeping your computer powered on and connected to the Internet to ensure that your backup completes as quickly as possible. If your backup doesn't automatically resume after restarting the computer, signing into your account at https://account.carbonite.com and reinstalling Carbonite on your computer may resolve the issue.
