- This article is for Mac - View Windows article
Your iTunes music and Apple Music data is included in your backup by default if you had Carbonite automatically select files for backup. You can view the backup status of the music and video files by navigating to their locations within the Carbonite interface.
Solution:
By default, Apple stores your local media files in the following folders on your Mac.
If you upgraded to macOS 10.15 Catalina from a previous operating system, the data will exist in the iTunes location after the macOS upgrade.
Media Type | Data Location |
---|---|
iTunes Music | Macintosh HD/Users/[User Name]/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music |
iTunes Videos | Macintosh HD/Users/[User Name]/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Home Videos |
Apple Music (only on new installations of macOS 10.15 Catalina) | Macintosh HD/Users/[User Name]/Music/Music/Media/Music |
Note: If you purchased music, movies, or TV shows from Apple or subscribe to Apple Music, the data can be restored by re-downloading your purchases or by turning on iCloud Music Library.
After you find the data within the Carbonite interface, you can select it for backup like any other file.
