The client needs to be running at least version 5.8 of Carbonite in order to use backup policies. While a backup policy is specific to a computer, each computer can use one of the available backup polices that you have created.
Addressing Over Quota Notifications for Carbonite Safe Pro
If your account’s total backup size exceeds the account’s storage quota, backups will halt until the issue is resolved. To do so, you will need to either add more storage to your account or remove files you no longer need backed up. Once the account is back under quota, backups will resume within 24 hours.
