Locating Files for Restore

How to Locate Files for Restore in CSSB 6.0 or Higher

With Carbonite Safe Server Backup versions 6.0 or higher, you can search your backup for files/folders to restore. If multiple versions of an item are backed up, you will be able to select a previous version for restore.

To select a number of files or folders:

  1. Navigate to the Restore page.
  2. Select a backup run then Select items in the backup set. Click Continue to proceed.
  3. Within the Browse tab, a file tree will appear. Expand the file tree and mark the checkbox next to any item you wish to restore.
    1. If you mark the checkbox next to a folder, everything within the folder will also be selected.
  4. Click Continue when your selections are complete.
  5. Specify your restore settings and click continue to proceed.
  6. After confirming your restore options, click Start My Restore to start restoring your files/folders.

To find a single file or folder:

  1. Navigate to the Restore page.
  2. Select a backup run then Select items in the backup set. Click Continue to proceed.
  3. Click the Search tab.
  4. Enter the name of the file or folder you wish to restore in the Search items box.
  5. Click the Search button.
  6. Select the file or folder you wish to restore from the list of results. If multiple versions of an item exist, you will be able to select how many versions to show based on age from the from dropdown menu.
  7. After making your selection, click Continue.
  8. Specify your restore settings and click Start My Restore to start restoring your file/folder.
How to Locate Files for Restore in CSSB 5.6

With Carbonite Safe Server Backup versions 5.6, you can search your backup for files/folders to restore. If multiple versions of an item are backed up, you will be able to select a previous version for restore.

To select a number of files or folders:

  1. Navigate to the Restore page.
  2. Click on Restore Select.
  3. A file tree will appear. Expand the file tree and mark the checkbox next to any item you wish to restore.
    1. If you mark the checkbox next to a folder, everything within the folder will also be selected.
  4. Click Save and Close when your selections are complete.
  5. Specify your restore settings and click Restore Now to start restoring your files/folders.

To find a single file or folder:

  1. Navigate to the Restore page.
  2. Click Search.
  3. Enter the name of the file or folder you wish to restore in the File/Folder Name box.
  4. Click Search file/folder by name.
  5. Select the file or folder you wish to restore from the list of results. If multiple versions of an item exist, you will be able to select how many versions to show based on age from the Show versions from dropdown menu.
  6. After making your selection, click Select this item for Restore.
  7. Specify your restore settings and click Restore Now to start restoring your file/folder.
