Determining the Status of Your Backup on Windows

Summary:

You can check the status of your backup through the Carbonite application.

This article applies to:

Carbonite Plans Products Platforms
Basic, Plus, Prime, Core, Power, and Ultimate (Not sure?) Safe and Safe Pro (Not sure?) Windows

Solution:

  1. Open Carbonite to view the Status page.
    Carbonite application
  2. Review the table below to determine your backup status and actions you can take:
Backup Status Description Action Needed
Backing up your computer Carbonite is backing up your files. No action needed.
Backup is paused Carbonite is paused according to a schedule or it has been paused through the Carbonite application. If Carbonite is on a schedule, no action is needed. Otherwise, you can resume Carbonite.
Backup Stopped – Subscribe now Your trial or subscription has expired. You can renew Carbonite or uninstall Carbonite to stop receiving notices
Page cannot be displayed Review the steps in Difficulty Opening the Carbonite Interface.
Preparing to back up Carbonite is scanning your computer for files that have been created or changed within the last 24 hours and getting ready for backup. No action needed.
Waiting for an internet connection Carbonite is unable to connect the internet. Connect the internet and/or restart the computer.
Your backup is out of date Restart the computer or reinstall Carbonite
Your backup is paused while in Recover Mode Carbonite stopped backing up because it is or planning on restoring files. Exit Recover mode.
Your files are safely backed up Carbonite successfully uploaded any new or changed files to the Carbonite servers. No action needed.
